EPF Railway Online Controlling System developed by Electric Power Finland Oy communicates wirelessly with GoA4 the autonomous train unit using 5G technology or it can be used in manual mode on any mobile device – even in the older railway environment.
Operational efficiency is one of the key factors in railway yard and shunting operations work – sometimes it suffers at non-modernized railway yards. Even today, to a significant extent, at private railway yards, switch controlling operates still manually.

Alongside of the electric switch controller EPF also developed a new level crossing facility for an industrial environment. The level crossing facility closes and releases the crossing from other users utilizing radar technologies.

We have developed our system with innovative technology to be completely safe and independent entity. The system’s sensors measure its data non-stop e.g., measuring the relative behavior of switches under load – to be sure that the switches and level crossings are in full operation.
Electric Power Finland Research and Development project funded by Business Finland will offer digitalized track solution which provides the necessary means for wireless and modern turning of railway switches and automatic level crossing facility including; Management Software, Hardware System and Graphical User Interface.
